2019 has really taken off with a bang for us at Magical Learning!

In addition to all of the webinars and workshops we are hosting, we’re also running three conferences in Newcastle, Wollongong, and Wagga Wagga.

In more wonderful news, Danette has been asked to speak at an International Women’s Day event for the Wagga City Council!

We are focusing on communication as our theme for this month. It’s a common learning focus for organisations, but our experience suggests you can never learn too much about being a better communicator. Everyone we meet is different and we associate with them in different capacities. Today it’s even more important to update your communication skills, in your business and our personal lives, to get the most from each of your relationships.

Communicate With Compassion

The next time you need to have a ‘challenging’ conversation with one of your team, here are four simple steps to bring more compassion and empathy into that conversation:

  1. Observe the situation objectively.
  2. State how the observation is making you feel.
  3. Connect with a need.
  4. Make a request.

Exactly What to Say: The Magic Words for Influencers and Impact by Phil M Jones

We’ve all been in a situation at some point or the other in our lives where we’ve been lost for the right words at the right time.  The solution is finally here!

This book is a great one for learning what to say when and how to get the most out of a situation through communication.

For example, did you know that a terrific phrase to use to help relax people who appear nervous or anxious is simply to say, ‘Don’t worry’. Something as simple as those two words can let someone to give you a chance to explain a situation to them and give you a chance to explain why they don’t need to worry. Words are powerful tools and Phil M Jones sheds light on how to use them effectively.

This book is filled with a number of tried and tested phrases that will help you get positive results in a variety of situations. I feel like it is a great book for anyone that interacts with people and that’s all of us!

At only 137 pages long, this book is a gem that you will come back to time and again.
